From Neon Vault to Prism Citadel: a look at Laser Thief's five worlds

Five worlds, 24 levels each, and one new laser type after another: how Laser Thief builds its story campaign, according to the studio.

Laser Thief’s story campaign takes players through five worlds, according to the studio’s game description: Neon Vault, Crystal Museum, Solar Casino, Deep Reactor, and Prism Citadel. Each world has 24 levels, its own color palette, its own loot, and its own music. Above all, each world introduces new laser types and obstacles. The order is a curriculum that runs from a single red beam to a finale with every mechanic.

A note up front: The details in this article come from the game description by ThreeFlavors LLC. As of October 10, 2026, the store page still showed older content with different worlds. You can check the store page to see which version is available there.

The setup: Neon City in 2089

The story is set in Neon City, a city powered by light. The corporation HALO Corp has stolen the “Heart of Light,” the crystal that powers the city. One by one, the lights are going out. The flying robot BLIP recruits the player to steal the heart back. According to the intro, it lies behind a long series of laser vaults across five worlds.

How the campaign is structured

Each world has levels coded 01 through 24, such as 1-01 through 5-24. Every fifth level—x-05, x-10, x-15, and x-20—is a gadget heist with surveillance cameras, a hammer, a fuse box, or wire cutters. Starting at level 1-05, cameras also appear in regular levels, more often in later worlds. Finishing a level unlocks the next one. Finishing the last level of a world opens the next world. Stars are not required for that.

In VR mode, the game recreates your real room as the backdrop for each world. In mixed reality mode, the real room stays visible, with glowing lines in the world’s color tracing walls and edges.

World 1: Neon Vault

Tagline: “Every heist starts with a single beam.” The first world, in cyan and magenta, is the game’s elementary school. It starts with a single low hurdle and one beam to duck under. Then come offset posts you twist through sideways, windows to step through, and pendulums. Starting at level 1-08, Magenta joins in, a blinking laser you pass through in the dark moment. The gadgets are introduced here too: the first camera in 1-05, the hammer for a glass display case in 1-10, the fuse box in 1-15, and the wire cutters in 1-20.

In VR mode, the world shows vault panels, lockers, and walls of monitors. The loot: a diamond, a ruby ring, and a pearl necklace.

World 2: Crystal Museum

Tagline: “Priceless. Fragile. Heavily guarded.” The museum, in violet and cyan, uses round openings called iris shutters that you dive through headfirst, along with grid walls and rotating rings. At level 2-07, Cyan joins in, a motion sensor that only triggers if you cross quickly. In 2-16, a prism splits a beam into a sweeping fan; in 2-18, the orange Tracer appears, where only the moving sparks are dangerous.

The VR backdrop shows marble, damask, and pointed-arch windows. The stolen items are a crown, a Fabergé egg, an ancient amphora, and a crystal skull.

World 3: Solar Casino

Tagline: “The house always watches.” The casino, in amber and pink, brings in swinging doors, revolving doors, rollers, and roulette wheels. In 3-06, Amber appears, an alarm laser that sleeps until you pick up the loot. From then on, the way back is different. In 3-13, a barrier like one in a parking garage is added; in 3-16, the white guard laser appears, which only blocks the way in and switches off when you grab the loot.

In VR mode, carpet and sun-pattern lacquer lie underfoot, and lucky wheels hang on the walls. The loot: gold bars, a gold pocket watch, and a jewel-encrusted chalice.

World 4: Deep Reactor

Tagline: “Hot core. Hotter lasers.” The reactor, in green and lime, relies on pendulum fans, scanners that move up and down, and rotating posts. In 4-04, the green hunter appears, a laser that slowly turns toward the player. In 4-06, a “breathing” cage around the core is added; in 4-12, the violet phase laser appears, which is solid only on the beat of the music.

The VR backdrop shows metal grating over glowing coolant and rows of valves. The stolen items are a reactor core and a crystal ball.

World 5: Prism Citadel

Tagline: “Where light itself stands guard.” The final world, in white and pink, is a master’s exam. It mixes all known laser types, adding gaps that open and close, carousels, seesaws, and marching laser walls. In 5-13, a lighthouse beam is added that circles at duck height. Deadly beams are tinted pink in this world. The final level, 5-24, is named “LIGHTFALL” and combines four cameras with alarm and guard doors, hunters, and a cyan cage.

In VR mode, the backdrop is made of porcelain and crystal facets. The loot: a prism, a royal scepter, and a crystal skull.

The worlds compared

World Colors New laser type Typical obstacles
Neon Vault Cyan / Magenta Magenta (1-08) Hurdles, limbo bars, posts, windows
Crystal Museum Violet / Cyan Cyan (2-07), Orange (2-18) Iris shutters, grids, prism
Solar Casino Amber / Pink Amber (3-06), White (3-16) Doors, rollers, roulette, barriers
Deep Reactor Green / Lime Green (4-04), Violet (4-12) Scanners, fans, rotating posts
Prism Citadel White / Pink Mix of all types Gaps, carousels, lighthouse

Music per world

According to the studio, all music tracks are generated live in the game. Each world has its own pool. Neon Vault starts with the swinging track “MIDNIGHT HEIST,” while Prism Citadel ends with faster material like “OVERCLOCK” and “CHROME CHASE.” The music builds layers as tension rises: quiet at the starting pad, full once you hold the loot.

The bottom line

The five worlds are more than a change of scenery. Each introduces one or two new laser rules and builds on the previous ones. Playing the campaign teaches the rule set step by step, until Prism Citadel combines everything. The latest content details are on the Laser Thief store page.
